Synopsis

Going into her first year of high school, Nanami Takahashi is filled with the hope of making many new friends. After meeting the shy Yuri Yamamoto, she hears about a popular boy in their class: Yano Motoharu. Yuri cares little for Yano because of his past relationship with her older sister Nana, and at first, Nanami doesn't like his attitude either. However, Nanami soon begins to warm up to Yano and takes a liking to him. The two spend more of their time together and eventually decide to start dating. But their love is not without challenges; Yano has trouble opening up to Nanami, since his first girlfriend, Nana, died in a car accident the year before, and she had been with one of her ex-boyfriends at the time.
Finding themselves living in the shadow of Yano's relationship with Nana, Nanami and Yano struggle to keep their relationship afloat amid misunderstandings and heartache with the certainty of their love for each other.

My review will be different. I might save you some time:
The first half of the show (up through episode 12) was simply wonderful, hovering between 8/10 and 9/10 for me. I don't even mind what happened on episode 12 — I thought they were both right and both acted right.
But.
Between episode 13 and the end, it kept drawing out, and out.. and out. It became a true shoujo soap drama where one character picks on the tiniest little things and makes the relationship unnecessarily difficult, while the other character can't get away from the past. It was slow and tiresome. I just didn't enjoy this second half very much, but it was still watchable, and you will probably be able to stick through it. Unfortunately, the ending is nothing really worth waiting for anyway.
The main girl, Nanami, plays it so perfectly in the first half though. The way she talks.. if I hadn't seen the second half, she'd easily be one of my favorite characters. Animation: low-budget mediocrity galore with mostly static frames, but they do try to be artistic with it (e.g. all the bubbly framing around key scenes, or how they occasionally blank out one eye for effect). Pacing: slower than average. Music: gently compliments every mood, insert songs never feel unwanted or out of place, and they cycle through a remarkable number of ending themes (9!).
All in all, I definitely recommend at least starting Bokura ga Ita, and if the front half leaves enough of an impact, perhaps try a bit of the back half for yourself. It's certainly not awful, but just nowhere near as alluring as the front's wonderfully carefree slice of life, and far more irritating. And it may leave a bad aftertaste.
P.S. — If you do watch the entire thing, be sure to check the manga for the last episode since they leave out a key line after the anime's final scene. (It's in the last few pages of Chapter 31. You'll know it when you see it, but feel free to ask me if you're uncertain.) And if you're up for it, there are 39 more chapters to Bokura ga Ita after this.

Bokura ga Ita is an anime for romance and drama lovers. I, personally love the genre so I enjoyed BgI to its fullest (mind you, not as much as something like Kanon), however, BgI really leaves you with overwhelming emotions.
The story revolves around Takahashi Nanami and Motoharu Yano, two high schoolers who unexpectedly fall in love. As the series moves on, we get to see the ups and downs of their relationship that eventually climaxes when both of them must truly mature or move on - the choice being particularly difficult for Takahashi. Throughout the story, the viewer is introduced to various problems every couple faces from past influences to jealousy -in the end it's quite a simple plot outline with very gripping dialog (for a drama, that is).
Animation is taken care of very well - there's a water color-esque feel akin to Honey & Clove mixed with standard inked anime. The animation won't wow you but it's still nice to for the eyes.
Insert songs create a perfect scene where emotion must strike a chord. Music can make or break a scene and although the songs are prevalent during climaxes, they always seem to get the job done.
There's about 4-5 main characters that truly effect the plot - a couple of them are boring and static however the three main ones are the ones you'll come to love or hate. BgI is the type of anime that makes you feel for the character and sympathize with them; although you may not be in Takahahi's shoes, she'll often narrate her thoughts and feelings to you.
Overall, I'd suggest this for romance/drama lovers - I truly enjoyed every second of this anime and I'm searching for the manga right now. The plot, while simple provides a lot of entertainment for the viewer - whether you cry or laugh, Bokura ga Ita delivers what it's good at.

Let me try my best to make this review short and to the point.
First, Bokura ga Ita is drama. Drama, drama, drama. If you don't want to watch a couple go over countless drama scenarios over and over and over, then don't bother with this show.
Second, and this might be a slight spoiler, but if you like one of the male leads more than the other, this will make or break the series for you. The male lead that I liked a lot didn't win out in the end, so naturally, I'm a little bitter (okay, more than a little).
Third, don't expect real life situations or problems. I don't believe Nanami or Yano handled a lot of their situations like a normal couple would. I'm definitely no expert on relationships, but sometimes you know how things would have happen. It's TV folks, expect some 'Ooooookay' scenes.
And as for my last point. The series was good enough to watch, but not good enough to warrant a 'go see it now' from me. As I said, I was dissatisfied with the Anime ending, so I will most likely pick up the manga to see where it leads. Judging by my desire to read the manga after watching of the Anime, I should think that says it did well enough to see. á

Story:
A girl falls in love with a popular guy through which the guy falls in love with her as well and then they started going out. Then things start to take a turn for the worse as the girl begins to question the guy's past which shakes their relationship. A story of love, heartaches, sercrets, dreams, etc. This is a show which couples can relate.or even those who still couldn't find love..you'll know the hardships of being in a relationship as well as the things that make it so wonderful. The series also has a bit of slapstick comedy to lighten up the mood. Quite a nice touch in my opinion.
Art:
Well, I couldn't say much about the art.it's simple. The characters don't look that cool or awesome as other animes, but they are characters which will be remembered. The bakcgrounds are simple, almost like they were just watercolored.
But despite the simplicity of the art, it's realistic. The characters clothing is a big example. They change clothes every episode or even during an episode. and the designs for the clothes are nice too.
Sound:
Since this is a romance series, expect that there'll be a lot of drama and sad moments just as much as happy ones. The background music really goes well with the mood of each situation and just at the right time. I almost shed a tear at one point in the series coz of the situation and the music was just sad..I give the music team a thubs up! no two! XD
Character:
The reason why this anime is great. The plot alone isn't enough to make you interested in watching a series, the characters do. And here the characters make you hate them at some point, or feel sorry for them at other times. There is no real antagonist in this story coz all of the characters are acting out of their feelings, and when you're in love, sometimes it's hard to see if what you did or said is wrong until you see the result.and there's also character development especially in the two main characters (Yano and Nanami).
Overall:
If you love romance, or romance anime to be particular, this is a definite must watch!

If you ask the general public to name anyone associated with anime, they’re almost certain to name a certain director – Miyazaki Hayao. But for anime fans themselves, the director is a crucial component of anime success that’s too often overlooked.

I think these two mangas are really similar because of two reasons: first of all, in both of them, one of the main characters faces the death of a dear person - but later falls in love with someone who helps him/her to get over it. Secondly, in the later parts, these mangas deal with long distance relationship. I highly recommend both of them.
It's about things that can actually happen in real life.
Both follow the couples from a younger middle-school age until they have graduated and beyond, showing both the drama that happens in your highschool years and also the tough reality of living in the real world.
A tale of separation, first loves, bittersweet memories, loneliness, moving on, and facing the future. Both series feature a boy and a girl who love each other but many obstacles hit them along the way. Both series have a 'dead' character that goes in between the main couple even if they're not alive. There's also the love rival who deeply loves one of our protagonists.
Both manga are about love that starts at a young and innocent age and blossoms throughout the years they are together. Suddenly, the couple has to part, which begins to cause problems for their relationship. There are betrayals, whether they are from friends or their partner, and there are times where secrets are revealed, and there are characters who don't get to live throughout the story..
Orangepermalink
While Bokura Ga Ita features younger characters, they appear more mature in the way they analyze situations. While the story line is different, the characters in both stories work hard to help the ones around them find happiness. The overall atmosphere is similar, alternating between melancholy and small burst of light happiness.
Both have something to do with death, in both series you'll see both the high school version of the main characters and the older version, the both want to make you cry, (tragedy) heroine are a littlw alike. a little love triangle :) Both amazing manga's which you'll surely like!!
the reason of my recommended this cause this manga deal with the real life issues the same goes for Ao haru ride manga A teenage boy faced the real life hardship in his youth felt there is no one in this life can save him while there was a girl who was like a light in his life without this light he could just be a desperate lonely soul sinking in the hollow.
Actually Bokura Ga Ita and Orange has completely different settings and storylines. But they have some similarities. Of course there're those shoujo, drama tags but that's not the only thing. The relationships and stories of some of the characters are same in both manga. Also don't forget the 'feels trip'!
Orange manga is a remarkable story of a group of friends trying to save and continue the love of one another. They all want to erase their regrets, so that everyone will live to see another beautiful day. To hear everyone laugh and see smile. Bokura ga ita manga is very similar. Talk about regrets, what is happiness, death, love trio, memories in others perspectives. The characters gradually grow and become mature when it comes to love and death. It's such a beautiful story. Long story at that and the ending is just great. Consider reading the manga and you will see how greatly similar it is to Orange. Enjoy.
Ao Haru Ridepermalink
Both are good cliche shoujo romantic drama stories. The simplistic and sincere art and storytelling distinguish them from others in way that the emotions slowly but deeply seeps into the heart. The story is the same in the sense that both characters are in mutual love, but circumstances of the guy pull them apart. Specifically, the death of someone that makes the guy 1.) broken - blaming their self, unable to trust and love again 2.) sympathetic of others (girl-potential hindrance) who share the same experience, feeling responsibility, unable to leave them. And all this while, the girl is left confused and hurting - so another guy comforts her. Fate plays a major role in their so-near-yet-so-far relationships.
(may contain some spoilers) - Similar character personalities: main guy character is social and smart. main girl character is bubbly and kind of unladylike. the main girls both have 2 best friends - Similar situations: main guy has history with another girl and feels responsibility towards her - Both main guys have sad backgrounds: in Ao Haru, Kou's parents are divorced and his mother died. in Bokura, his girlfriend cheated on him(?) and his mother died. - Both girls have a 'fall back guy': in Ao Haru, it's Kikuchi, in Bokura, it's Takeuchi. - Similar drawing style - Lots of similar occurrences in the plot: school trip, the guy disappears for some time, the guy gets sick, they study together, etc. Ao Haru is a lot newer and has less chapters out. (but the anime adaption is confirmed as of Jan. 2014!). Ao Haru only takes place in highschool so the situations are more mild (basically nothing about sex or marriage) Bokura is a little more angsty and dramatic.
the reason of my recommended this cause this manga deal with the real life issues the same goes for Ao haru ride manga A teenage boy faced the real life hardship in his youth felt there is no one in this life can save him while there was a girl who was like a light in his life without this light he could just be a desperate lonely soul sinking in the hollow.
Lovely shoujo mangas! You can really feel like the characters are going through same kind of experience with first love or just love in general. Both mangas give you really happy, warm and fuzzy feeling while reading them. You grow attacted to the characters and watch them grow. They are not similar just in the plot, but some characters seem similar, too.
Strobe Edgepermalink
Same feeling, pure love, and protagonists who won't stop loving the same guy, however difficult it may be. Love triangles in both, although they're very refreshing. Two mangas that are really worth reading.
They both have love triangles, interesting characters and have a realistic element to them. Strobe Edge is a lot lighter in it's plot and the situations aren't quite as complex. I guess it's much simpler than Bokura ga Ita and easier on the heart. Bokura ga Ita has a much heavier plot yet still manages to remain light-hearted and is filled with a lot more emotions. If you like one, then I'm sure you'll like the other!
Bokura Ga Ita is well known for a romance, drama-filled manga. I think that Strobe Edge fits its popularity too. Bokura Ga Ita and Strobe Edge are just alike with its story- the girl falls in love to a boy who is popular to her school. But the difference is that in Bokura, boy's bestfriend falls inlove with the girl while in Strobe Edge, the girl's childhood friend falls in love with her. Also, (in Bokura) the boy can't forget his past lover and (in Strobe Edge) the boy's girlfriend is the sister of the girl's childhood friend.
The heroine seems to fall for a guy whose heart belongs to someone else. As the story goes on, secrets of the past unfold, and the girl and the guy connect, as well as dealing with love triangles. The heriones' character are very similar, as well as parts of the story, so if you like one, then you will like the other.
Kare wa Tomodachipermalink
Both have high school teenage romance, drama, backstabbing, obsession, lies, secrets, etc. They deal with first love and best friends liking the same girl. Both have love squares. or even pentagons.
They're really similar in a lot of aspects. High school love that goes through a lot of emotional rollercoasters. even the artwork is quite similar.. I'm certain that if you liked one, you'd definitely like the other.
A story of lament in which the heroine liked the guy that has the fresh and cheerful aura. The friend fell inlove with the heroine and another girl tries to interfere with the relationship.
Very similar feel, drama, art to them. If you like one, you will DEFINITELY like the other. Nana (Bokura ga Ita) / Fujisaki (Tomodachi), Motoharu (Bokura ga Ita) / Mizuno (Tomodachi), and Takeuchi (Bokura ga Ita) / Sasamoto (Tomodachi) all have very similar circumstances (i.e. love triangle). Personally, I like Bokura ga Ita a little bit better because it's longer.. and I like drenching myself in a long manga. But, they're both very good!
Koizora: Setsunai Koimonogataripermalink
it has d same atmosphere,a plain girl who entered high school, unexpectedly fall for someone they thought they never will, and the pain of being heartbroken and so on.
Yeah, it's really a lot like BGI. Both girls fall in love with a cool popular boy, have a serious relationship, suffer hardships of the reality, and there are a lot of people who don't wish for their happiness. Although BGI is 'lighter' in sense of hardships. Koizora is really tragic. Mika suffers A LOT, starting from rape to miscarriage. Koizora is a true sad love story.
Both are highschool romances, the timeline is fairly similar (high school through college-ish). I actually find the male leads incredibly similar, especially how they handle breaking off a relationship and putting all the weigh of a situation on themselves. Mika’s story is a little more eventful in terms of what happens during her high school life (more mature content also) but the love that’s thrown around in these stories is the same. Mika and Nanami never stop loving and wanting to be with that one person no matter what.
Both manga have similar feelings, as well as situations. Both of the heroines are baby-faced and a bit childish, but fall in love with a more popular guy and eventually start dating. Throughout the series, there are obstacles from people of their past, their close friends, and even familial or personal health problems.
Marspermalink
Shy, innocent girl falls in love with the outgoing, popular guy. Guy has trouble coping with traumatic death of a loved one in the past.
Both stories contain real drama. Main characters (boys) experienced through the death of important person. But a girl helps them to recover and to find a new aim in the life
BGI and Mars are both very good romance/dramas. The male lead in each has a dark past that still troubles him, but they find a girl who starts to heal them. Mars is more mature, but I enjoyed both of them immensely.
B.O.D.Y.permalink
I have to say that it's JUST like this! a girl that likes someone and then dislike him, but when he decide he wants to like her too, they are together. and it's also have the 'I'm lying! haha!' thing. :X
Both mangas act of love. Both have a very interesting story and there are always ups and downs. Both are really a beautiful romance, you must have read.
The character development, the plot between the troubles of the couple - one problem comes after another, where this is one that really takes up almost a quarter of the manga x.x Also the love between the characters is sweet :)
Koishitagari no Bluepermalink
Both Bokura ga Ita and Koishitagari no Blue involve a love square --- two guys and two girls are all in love with someone who loves someone else. The main female protagonists are 'used' by the main male protagonists as fake girlfriends. The male protagonists seem outwardly happy and joking around; they secretly undergo emotional anguish from the memory of previous loves. The chemistry between the male and female lead is profound; however, complications arise and lead to misunderstandings. In addition, both works give off a feeling of yearning with just the correct drop of angst mixed in.
Love triangles/square? Main characters start with a 'he's so annoying' attitude toward the guy, naturally this changes and love blossoms. Main guys have ex girlfriends who complicate their relationships. Both manga address first loves, and moving on. BGI is a tad more serious (and longer), but both manga have comedic aspects to them. Both manga are as good as each other, you're more likely to cry at BGI and laugh at KNB.
Average girl meets a friendly and upbeat yet mysterious boy who is trapped in the past. She experiences first love with him and goes through turmoil and drama. Both tales tell love stories about moving on, loneliness, true love and everlasting friendship.
17permalink
Female protagonist liking the male main character first. the main guy, being indecisive. Involves lots of drama and some past tragedy. The plot is more or less similar for both.
this is a great story ,when I was reading 17 it remainded me so much of bokura ga ita. With the painful love and past of the male charaters.
Crazy for Youpermalink
The main girl falls in love with a boy who can't forget another girl. Also, both manga have a lot of love triangles. Both have lots of drama and a similar feel.
Both main characters fall in love with a boy who cannot get over a girl from there past, causing drama and love triangles for many people.
Oboreru Knifepermalink
Love, betrayal, and a lot of tears. Both might start off slow, but the minute it gets good, it stays that way. When you start reading, it'll be hard to stop. The main characters both have a similar problem, where they fall in love with the popular boy, but because of something tragic, it ends. And if it can't get any more similar, they start something with their ex's (THAT popular boy) best friend. Amazing story, and I recommend it for anyone who's up for a crying session.
similar feeling! both have complicated male lead role. both manga are perfect!
Lovely★Complexpermalink
the art is very similar but the storyline is completely different. a lot of people say that the two main male characters look the same
Both manga are about a high school girl and guy who don't exactly start out completely friendly toward each other, but as friendship develops, a deeper relationship is created. With the heroine, who falls for the guy first and confesses, and a guy who is still unsure of his own feelings because of an old relationship that he has not gotten over yet. Both of these manga can give us a light-hearted feeling that can make us laugh, but also a sadness.
Nanapermalink
I can't believe no one has said anything about the similarities of Bokura ga Ita and NANA!! Like.. in the later chapters, when they separate, it is very much like Hachi & her search for Nana. && Let's not forget how in each story, 2 girls are named Nana! The style in the later chapters is so similar.. The inner monologues.. 'What are you doing now, Yano?' That screams Nana to me! I was thinking, 'Hey.. was this written by the same mangaka??' At first, I thought this was going to be a cute love story.. but it has the deeper, darker aspects much like in Nana (though not as dark as Nana).
Both manga(and anime) are about deep and realistic romance life. in Bokura Ga Ita it's about teengares love life, and in Nana it's about young adults (in their 20-30 years). They share a lot of similarities, the dialogue both main character have inside themselves are similar. NANA:'Hey, Nana.. Do you remember the first time we met?' Bokura Ga Ita:'At the time he was just 15. Now he's barely 16. But the truth burdening him, is always larger than his capacity'. Both stories are about love life's ups and downs, and how different individuals handle it. if you like Nana or Bokura Ga Ita you'll surely like the other one too :) OH! and both story's have 2 Nana's xD
L♥DKpermalink
If you enjoy L-DK, Bokura ga Ita is a must read! Both main male characters are the 'it' factor in school, and both have sad backgrounds in 'love'. Both female characters, dislike the main at first but then fall in love. Its such a sappy romance on the mangas, but like L-DK Bokura ga Ita has many surprises, and is full of laughs. Bokura ga Ita is a little more serious but is so worth the read!
Bokura ga Ita and L-DK are shoujo series that combines elements of drama, romance, and realism. The main female protagonist falls for a guy that they have somewhat of a hard time getting along with at first. But through time, they manage to develop a relationship with mutual respect and love. Both series' storytelling has a slow pacing and has a love triangle. They also have some mature context and sensible topics.
'Kare' First Lovepermalink
Both have a girl who is at first a bit of a dork but is still cute and both girls catch the eye of a popular good looking guy and they each become infatuated with them. Both stories show how each set of characters evolve as they go and how each couple's love blossoms. Each story is full of drama and there is a ton of romance and surprises along the way ^.-
Another manga that gets me thinking is so alike with this is Bokura ga Ita. Both male characters have family issues. And both female characters falling for a cute, popular guy :)
Kimi ni Todokepermalink
These are both character-driven stories and are kind of melodramatic. The source of drama is totally different hence these two manga are also completely different, but they are both really good and really amazing. Both have really strong heroines and really cool male protagonists. Kazehaya (Kimi ni Todoke) and Yano (Bokura ga Ita) are both popular among girls but their approach was totally different. While Kazehaza always holds himself back in order to wait for his girl, Yano kind of forces his ways onto his girl. The guys are also very mature, kind of, in a way, which makes the two stories a whole lot more interesting. The heroines, in spite of being strong character themselves, can also be annoying at times, but still they add a bit of spice to the story. In Kimi ni Todoke, it was more of Kuronuma understanding herself while it was more of Takahashi understanding Yano on the other. Girl friendships is the secondary point of Kimi ni Todoke although there are also times when Ryuu and Kazehaza have their guy moments. But it was more like the usual I-can-tell-what-you're-thinking-even-though-you-don't-tell-me-anything boy friendship. I though it was so Japanese! On the other hand, Yano's friendship with Takeuchi is more open, and kind of borders to rivalry as well. Sometimes, it's also good to hear what guys usually talk about so this style is also refreshing. Takahashi's side on the other hand, doesn't really show much girl friendship. In terms of art, silence is used really well too. Although I like Bokura ga Ita better if we talk about that. Overall art however goes to Kimi ni Todoke. Overall story? These two are romance stories that are really worth it. In this matter, there is nothing more to say, but just go read it.
Silent Kisspermalink
Deals with an innocent girl falling in love with a boy who's already occupied.
Tonari no Atashipermalink
Both manga revolve around school life. The art styles are also comparable. Mostly, they are similar in that the female protagonist is in love with a guy who claims to have feelings with her but at the same time is drawn to another girl.
Hiyokoipermalink
It starts with the main character of these two mangas (Nanami and Hiyori) on their 1st/2nd day of high school. They both encounter the most popular guy in their class (Nana=Yano & Hiyori=Hirose). Both Nana and Hiyori were embarrassed by the most popular guy in class
Awfully Damn Kiss and Hugpermalink
Both Male leads had lost someone they loved and a complicated character. And Female leads who wants to help them move on.
Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagupermalink
Both manga's include a love that isn't easy to maintain and get. In BgI Yano has a lot of feelings and actings that are in the way. In Boku no hatsukoi the main guy has a disease that makes it hard for them to be together. At a main point the guys both think that they can't make the girls happy, so they try to create a gap between them. Overal both story's are drama lovestory's Also both are in my favorites. Don't forget too check the other one!
Kimi wa Maru de, Ano Hana no You de.permalink
Both manga deal with a girl who is in love with a boy that she gets to know, but later, she learns that he can't get over his girlfriend, who happens to have died in an accident. After she confesses, the guy seems to have feelings for her, but is he able to get over his deceased girlfriend?
360° Materialpermalink
Both stories go in a similar direction. The main males Taki in '360 Degrees Material', and Yano in 'Bokura Ga Ita' have an 'ex' that somehow interferes in their relationships. Then there's the nice, sweet, helpful, and caring guy friend who helps the female protagonist overcome her struggles and eventually falls in love with her. Similar story lines, but a twist in plot. Both are entertaining manga to read. ^.^
Aishiteruze Baby★★permalink
Aishiteruze Baby and Bokura ga Ita both have a very slow paced plot line. Not that the manga drag on but they are very in depth when in comes to character emotions and feelings develop over a longer period of time. They each have a relationship obstacle that the main characters must try and over come through out the series.
Sorenara Isso Koi ni Narepermalink
They're similar because the story is ' A girl who fall's in love with a boy which had some difficulties in the past and their relationship get's worser when the past comes up, or when something or someone from it appers..and it's goes on becoming really interesting and fascinating' I love the two Mangas. They are one of my favourite and if you've liked one of them you should definitely read the other one I recommend ! Hope you'll like it ~
Suki tte Ii na yo.permalink
Character traits are similar along with situations the characters are put in. Both of these manga have nice arts and a captivating stories. Like Bokura ga Ita, in Sukitte Ii na yo the main characters relationship is formed at the begging of the series. Both Bokura ga Ita and Sukitte Ii na are focusing not really how the main characters get together but the things they face in their relationship which makes their love stronger. PS: If you love Bokura ga Ita, then Sukitte Ii na yo is a manga for you to read. It's not exactly like Bokura ga Ita(and although I love Bokura ga Ita more), Sukitte Ii na yo is still very good!
I Love Herpermalink
The plots are different from each other, but both have the same themes (family, loneliness, love triangles out of obligations) and the same feel to it.
Gaccha Gachapermalink
they both deal with a girl who falls in love with a guy that is a little bit of a player but for a reason, the guys have a dead girlfriend whow they have a painfull past with. both girls are not sure if the guys love them or they are in love with their dead ex.
Kimi no Iru Machipermalink
Both have a very special plotline, since they both follow the characters through a big part of their lives, in contrast to a lot of other romance which revolves simply in a high school enviorment with no backbone whatsoever.
Hot Roadpermalink
Sometimes life sucks. And sometimes, when your lucky, you might be able to find a manga that shows you a bit of that life. Of course, there's still some good moment, and some bad. While the plots of both manga has nothing alike, I feel like I'm almost there with them. Both manga has that boy, who would have never guessed they would fall in love with someone. The art is simple, but in a good way, because I feel it fits the best in these stories. While Bokura Ga ita might be labeled as a shoujo, I feel they both have a josei kind of feel. There could be more small similarities in both manga, but I'm already boring you. What is there not to like? Try it if you love those tear jerking, bitter love, sweet moments, kind of manga.
Bitter Virginpermalink
The main characters in both shows match each other well.
Kiss/Hugpermalink
The stories are both different, but both are really sweet in their own ways and show a young sweet relationship, though BGA gets much darker and sadder as you read on
Bokutachi wa Shitte Shimattapermalink
both treat about pure girl's first love :) , school life and friendships.
Bokura wa Itsumopermalink
It's the same partially..two boys who are fighting over a girl. You will like it XD
Deep Love: Ayu no Monogataripermalink
They aren't totally similar, but both of them have really good stories. In both you can see the actual society in japan by smal aspects. Both have deaths that have lots of influence in the way of how the storie go. I have to say that BGI is more 'light' then Deep Love, because in DP you will cry almost from the begining to the end. Anyway, both have the LOVE, even if it's in diferent forms. They're reaaaly good ^-^
Moe Kare!!permalink
Has the same school theme and the whole boyfriend scheme. Just like in bokura ga ita two guys fight over the same girl.. drama, romance, all the good stuff
Senpai to Kanojopermalink
I was actually quite shocked when I realized these two were not done by the same mangaka. When I was reading Senpai no Kanojo it reminded me of the trouble Nana went through with her love for a boy who was in love with another. Though the overall story is different (with many similarities), the art and character feel are very alike.
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijoupermalink
Both Yano in Bokura ga Ita and Arima in Kare Kano have a dark past. Although the female leads aren't similar at all, I think if you like one, you'll like the other.
Suki ni Natte mo Ii no?permalink
similar storyline a girl who fall in love with a man who love a dead girl .
Koukou Debutpermalink
Both mangas are about high school couples. Thought Bokura ga Ita is more tragic it's similar to Koukou Debut. Both girls are said to be plain and end up with the or one of the most attractive guy in the school. Also the ending is similar because they end after the graduate from highschool.
Heroine Shikkakupermalink
Similar plot, but BGI spans from high school to adulthood and is a bit more serious
Sad Love Songpermalink
in both there is a love triangle with two best male friends and the main character, and they show extensively the struggle the main girl has to go through for her love , thus making the story rather dramatic and, partly, a tearjerker
Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasupermalink
Both male's have trouble trusting women, which jeopardizes their relationships. They are both perverted, too.
Kimi no Kachipermalink
5 short stories from the same creator. Each story is adorable, romantic and sweet as a candy, so anyone who loved BokuGa will like it too. The characters are very similar to Yano and Nanami.
Kimi ga Sukipermalink
There's a guy who a girl has always loved, and there is another one who she feels in debt to, and has trouble choosing from them both.. Bokura ga ita is quite longer though, that's forsure, but both great reads! (:
1/3 Romanticapermalink
they´re both about a teenage-girl who falls in love with the handsome, heartbroken guy, who in some way have lost their older love. So if you liked 1/3 Romantica you will like bokura ga ita (actually I prefer BgI ´cause it´s longer, so you get more time to actually get to know the characters ^^ )
Hana yori Dangopermalink
I think they are prrety similar because both of them have a lot of drama, and in both of the their are two best friends, who fell in love with the same girl.In my opinion Bokura ga ita is more dramatic than Hana yori dango but I enjoyed reading them very much.
